About us
My name is Allan Christensen, and I am the founder and editor of this Gran Canaria beach guide. I love to travel and share my experiences through photos, videos and text.
My knowledge of Gran Canaria began as a child, when my family often spent their autumn holidays there. My parents preferred the resort town of Puerto Rico, but we also stayed in Playa del Inglés. I clearly remember being very fascinated by the desert in Maspalomas as a child.
Later, I travelled to Gran Canaria several times with my own children, typically during the autumn school holidays. Our favourite holiday resort was the relatively new resort of Playa Taurito, located a short distance from the more well-known resort of Puerto Mogán.
Since then, I have been on many trips to Gran Canaria on my own to experience as much of this wonderful island as possible. On my trips, I always bring my excellent Canon SLR camera and my DJI Osmo pocket video camera. In recent years, I have also brought my DJI mini drone, which I use where it is safe and legal to do so.
There is SO much to experience in Gran Canaria, and fortunately, the island is constantly evolving. It is with good reason that the island is often referred to as a miniature continent. Gran Canaria has tall mountains, large forest areas, beautiful beaches and even a desert. It is important that these areas are protected, and fortunately, there is increasing focus on this.
I have explored most of the island, many times over, and since 2020 I have been sharing my knowledge and photos/videos here on the website. I hope it will inspire others to travel to Gran Canaria and help choose the right holiday resort, plan memorable activities and visit the beaches that suit them best. See also my recommendations for holiday resorts and hotels for families with children and adult couples.
The website is continuously updated, and new pages are added. Please return and let us share our interest in this beautiful island of Gran Canaria. If you have any questions, please contact me.
